Female STEM Students Wanted as Mentors

Dear Students,

dear Members of the Student Association,

the online mentoring program CyberMentor is looking for female STEM mentors. Since 2005, our largest scientifically accompanied program in Germany has been successfully inspiring schoolgirls for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). For the round starting in October we are again expecting up to 600 motivated female students. Due to the great support of dedicated female mentors, 62% of the participants surveyed later decided to study or train in the STEM field. This means they were twice as likely to choose STEM as female students in their respective age cohorts (31%).

Working STEM women from business and science as well as female students of a STEM subject from the 3rd semester and trainees from the 2nd year of training can act as mentors. They accompany a female student online for one year and exchange ideas via our protected online platform.

How does the mentoring work?

Online mentoring of a student from 5th to 13th grade
Weekly exchanges of 30 minutes - flexible schedule
Program duration one year, participation free of charge
Role model as a STEM woman: support with STEM projects, exchange on STEM topics, Education & career
Exchange four times a year with your mentee’s STEM teacher (CyberMentor Plus)
Training videos & helpful tips on mentoring on the platform.

For organizational reasons, we ask that you preferably register by September 25th, 2024.

Note: There is no kick-off meeting on the day when the round starts - but a few weeks later. You will find the date for the welcome meeting (online) on the platform.

On the following evenings, we will give you a brief overview of our CyberMentor program. In a 20-minute presentation, we will provide you with the most important information about CyberMentor and participation as a mentor and will then be available to answer your questions.
